Getting to our husky farm

By plane to Norway on Vesterålen

International flights will always have a lay over in Oslo-Gardemoen. From here you can fly to Harstad/Narvik (in Evenes). You can rent a car at the airport. Our pro-tip: book the car online. In the high season, prices can rise quickly, but booking in advance online could get you better deals.

Second option: You could also take the airport shuttle to Sortland (two hour drive), from which we offer a shuttle service to the huskyfarm (at a flat rate).

By car to Norway and on Vesterålen

When you are traveling in a group, you might want to consider driving here by car. Economically, it could be much more interesting than taking an airplane. However, that is not the only advantage. Taking this multy day drive up north allows you to acclimatise to this latitude. It also allows you to see the breathtaking scenery of Scandinavia.

In summer, the drive takes about three or four days. Driving steadily without many breaks.

Before you jump into the car and start your engines, plan your route carefully and book your ferry crossings in advance. Doing this will save you money and time. In summer, ferries might be fully booked, resulting in possible detours or extended delays.

We can answer questions about the drive up north to ease up your planning.

Warning: Sudden animal encounters on the road require you to drop your speed quite a bit.

In winter, it is paramount to adapt your driving. Unforseeable snowfall or avalanches might lengthen your trip. Therefore, we advise to forsee two extra days for the journey. If you are planning to cross the pass over Sweden, remember that driving in these northern mountains requires lots of winter driving experience and spike tires; chains rarely do the job.
